About Pet Portraits Philanthropy
Sue McConville has always been an artist. Her sisters are all accomplished artists, and together they enjoy painting and crafts. All of the children's homes are adorned with the wonderful paintings from their mother Cappy's portfolio. Cappy has since passed away, but her passion for painting and art lives on in her children.
The family's passion for art had competition only from their other passion, tennis. Sue was a High School Champion and Club Champion player and later served as a High School Tennis coach. Even into her fifties, Sue played several times a week.
In 2015 Sue suffered a terrible brain aneurism, from which she has made a miraculous recovery. Unfortunately, tennis was no longer an option, so Sue turned her attention full time to painting, which became an important part of her recovery. She began with pencil sketches and progressed to full portraits of her favorite pets. Her first full portrait was of the family's crazy French Bulldog Winston Churchill. (Winston's painting is on the Home Page.)
At first, Sue took paid commissions for her work, selling many paintings of all sizes. Over time she has come to realize that she prefers to paint just for the love of it and her love of animals. With her husband's help, she formed Pet Portraits Philanthropy in 2024 so that she could provide funding to the Humane Society and also so that those commissioning her paintings could do so as a tax-deductible donation.
Please contact Sue at mccfamilysue@gmail.com if you are interested in commissioning a portrait (donations only please).
